The Tower Bar
The Original Hole in the Wall
At the base of the City Heights' landmark Euclid Tower sits the historic Tower Bar, San Diego's original hole in the wall. As legend has it, back in 1965 a runaway Oldsmobile slammed through the front door, killing a patron at the bar and literally busting a hole in the wall. Nowadays the Tower features an astounding collection of vintage beer signage and practically reeks of a good time long gone by. It's also the only place in town to carry Olympia beer and is the home of the much heralded PABST-SMEAR—a 1/2 Guinness 1/2 Pabst pint of intoxication.
